About
Silence Radio is an independent, community-run web radio station — rooted in the Indian Ocean, open to the world. Eclectic programming We happily do away with algorithms, advertising, and formulaic formats. Our programming is curious, experimental, and unhurried. Alongside DJ sets, shows, and podcasts from our community, we love drifting into soundscapes, sounds of nature, and living silences — an invitation to slow down and listen more contemplatively, in a world that rarely stops to breathe. An Indian Ocean community Silence Radio is a space for musicians, artists, DJs, and sound lovers with ties to the wider Indian Ocean region — Réunion, Mauritius, Madagascar, Mayotte, Rodrigues, the Comoros, India, South Africa — as well as its diaspora across the globe. The project is collective, non-hierarchical, and run entirely by passionate volunteers. Amplifying marginalized voices We are committed to fair and equitable representation, with particular care for Réunionese and Creole people, people from the Indian Ocean region and from territories colonized or enslaved by France, women, gender minorities, and queer people and people of color. We strive to build a space that is inclusive, supportive, welcoming, and as balanced as possible. At Silence Radio, there is no place for discrimination of any kind.
